Our Work

Scholarship Programmes

Beneficiaries of our educational sponsorship programmes are often selected from the most vulnerable societies, categorized as those with a higher need for intervention. Although we give priority to orphans, we also cater for those whose parents cannot afford their education (where possible). These children are enrolled in reputable private schools, with their tuition, educational supplies and sanitary needs catered to by the Foundation.

Adoption via Sponsorship and Mentorship

Our database consists of about 85 children ranging from ages 5 to 23. With this programme, an interested sponsor is encouraged to select a child of interest, commit to a monthly or periodic allowance donated through BIF to the child’s guardian or surviving parents as an upkeep allowance. Engagement activities are also encouraged to connect the child and the sponsor, with the aim of counseling or mentoring the child through their development years. These sessions must be under the supervision of the child’s guardian and an assigned Advocate from BIF.

Community Support

We visit hard hit communities occasionally to donate relief materials, gauge the level of intervention required for the most vulnerable and provide encouragement in various forms. Our vision is to increase these engagements to include skill acquisition programmes and counseling centers sometime in the near future.

Projects

Project Heipang

Born from the displacement of families during the herdsmen crisis that rocked Nigeria, BIF’s intervention provided baby food, foodstuff, clothes and other relief materials. We visited three IDP camps located in the outskirts of Plateau State, each hosting a minimum of 700 displaced persons, women and children inclusive.

Project Biu

Our flagship project organized annually as Yuletide parties, between 2014 and 2017. This has metamorphosed from providing a full day’s meal to over 150 families, to the enrolment of children in schools across Borno State. Our database consists of over 80 children who have been or are still being sponsored through their nursery, primary, secondary and university stages.

Project Mosafejo

Our original vision was to feed a minimum of 250 homeless children across Lagos State. On executing the project, the need to rehabilitate the homeless young men and women who showed up for our outreach became an even greater desire. We encountered teenagers with multiple children and drug addictions, many of whom appeared to desperately desire a way out from the life of crime, presented as their only option for survival.
